About Dachchunds

|
I love dogs. The unconditional love that they provide is found in no other animal. When you get home from a hard day of work, a dachshund will greet you at the door with tail wagging wanting to play or just to be touched.
Dachshunds are also known as dashounds in this country. They are very smart and being so makes them hard to teach simple boring tricks.
Give them something complex, something they want to do, and you'll be amazed.
Dachshunds make wonderful traveling companions and are a great truck drivers dog. But I wouldn't let him jump down from the truck himself, their legs are
just too short to absorb the landing. Dachshunds can also be a mans dog unlike a poodle, pomeranian, or shelty.
Dachshunds were bred to hunt and hunt they do. When my wiener dog gos out he searches every little hole, board, and under every car. He's hunting for something, we're just not sure what. A good trick to teach him might be to track missing childern. Their one track mind and keen nose are well suited to this kind of thing.

Doxies make a nice family dog and get along well with children if they are introduced as a young dog and if the kids are gentle. Ours burrow under the blankets given a chance. We try not to let them get away with this because they generally have dirty paws and generate so much body heat I can't stay under the blankets.
In the snow country these dogs burrow in the snow and will pop up around the yard like a ground hog. It's funny to watch Wiener do this. He is so fast you would swear their were 2 of them. I see him pop up on my left, turn around, he's poping out of a hole on my right.
